How do I draw the fine line between confidence and pride?

Perhaps it helps to consider what that confidence or pride is in. Confidence in of itself is not good, and conversely, pride is not in of itself bad.

Rather, it is what we place our confidence and pride in. Is our confidence in ourselves? Is our pride in ourselves? Or is our confidence in Christ and his finished work on the cross? Is our pride in our God and the redemption and glory of His handiwork?

i think the pride that we try to avoid as used in the bible is something that is self-serving and lifts up ourselves--we get the glory. Confidence actually empowers us to act and think in a way that glorifies God, banishing fear (or anything else) from controlling us. But yeah, ditto what d said. ;)

A conversation last night brings another thought to mind. There's a level of peace (read: assurance) in having confidence, but pride (again, referring to the negative biblical use) holds/hides fear (or losing face, losing position/status, etc). haha. A lotta posts for a one-liner. That's what happens when ppl finally catchup to u. ;)
