Some notables in the four Gospels...
1. after the crucifixion, Matthew reports that the some dead people arose
and came out of their graves -- Matt 27:52, 53
2. Pilate's wife makes her only appearance in Matthew 27:19
3. there's an obscure naked young man wearing only a linen sheet in Mark
14:51-52 (I know, I did a double take here, I must have missed this in
sunday school).
4. After Pilate, Herod also tries Jesus, but only Luke reports this in Lk
23:7,8 -- Herod and Pilate also become best buds afterwards, Luke 23:12 5. Only Luke reports on the discussion between Jesus and the two criminals
next to him at Golgotha -- Lk 23:43
6. Jesus sweats drops of blood in Gethsemane in Luke's account -- Lk 22:44 7. John gives extensive coverage of Jesus and Pilate's conversation -- Jn
18:33-38, Jn 19:8-11
8. Nicodemus also comes by night for Jesus' body -- Jn 19:39 -- the other
gospels report only Joseph of Arimathea.
9. On the road to the cross, Jesus turns to mourners and says, "Daughters
of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your
children. For behold, the days are coming when they will say, 'Blessed are
the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never
nursed.'" Lk 23:28,29
10. Caiaphas will be featured in the film, but Jesus' first trial was
before Annas, Caiaphas' father-in-law -- John 18:13, 14 (taken altogether,
the trials go in this order: Annas, Caiaphas, Pilate, Herod, Pilate) None
of the gospels report on all five mini-trials in consecutive order). 11. After Jesus' crucifixion, the centurion says that surely Jesus was the
"Son of God" (Matt 28:24, Mark 16:39) In Luke's account, he merely says
Jesus was "innocent." Lk 23:47
12. Only Luke reports that Satan entered Judas -- Lk 22:3
13. Only Luke reports that an angel appeared and strengthened Jesus in
Gethsemane -- Lk 22:43
14. Perhaps for his predominantly Jewish audience, Matthew reports that the
people who wanted to crucify Jesus declared, "His blood be on us and on our
children." - Matt 27:25
