Just My Scattered Thoughts...

Is there a word, perhaps _____phobia, for fear of seagulls and pigeons?
The other work day I grabbed a take out lunch and headed for the pier... the sun
gladly shared its warmth with me as I contently sat on a lonely bench by the water. The feeling inside was one like that of a young innocent child receiving a chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven... I felt all giggly inside because I was able to enjoy the nice weather outside, even though it was a weekday, a work day! BUT... then the seagulls and pigeons, who fear no humans, decided to gather for a extended family reunion by my bench... the rest of my time there I kept thinking, should I move? should I avoid any unfortunate accidents by leaving now? I stuck it out... claimed my bench and those darn birds could do nothing about it.

I am usually pretty good about sleeping on airplanes... Since I went away for school, I would always konk out before the plane even left the ground, no matter how hard I tried to keep myself awake. I dreaded this last flight this past Thursday night, though, because I was given a middle seat for the 4.5 hour redeye flight... not fun... if the airline assigned me the window seat, I would have been perfectly fine, but nope, i somehow ended up sitting on the aisle seat. Anyway, I arrived in the Detroit airport before the sunrise on Friday morning. Bought a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese McBagel at the butt-crack of dawn... drank my apple juice... found my gate... and then konked out for real this time. I figure since I had a 3 hour layover, I would allow myself a few hours of shut-eye before boarding again... that was almost a mistake... I woke up 5 minutes before the gate closed... I scared myself there. haha.

The detroit airport is a lot nicer than I remember it to be... maybe I was in the newer terminal this time.

I miss those friends from college... those neverending conversations and debates... I am glad I am finally here in VA visiting with an old roommate of mine, JV... we hit it off the first day we met frosh year in the laundry room a few weeks into the first semester... been friends since... and it's been sweet and good!

traveling is so rewarding...
