What a Guy Wants... What a Guy Needs...

Recently a dude, yes, one from Seattle, challenged me to draft a piece on what I think a guy looks for in a girl. I'm not so sure I am qualified to accept such a task, but here goes nothing more than opening up a can of worms or even worse... inviting for some harsh schooling...

No doubt, the animal side of man desires for a luscious woman with a body blessed with perfect curves. He instinctively is attracted to a woman with such physical qualities. The human eye can not easily deny the natural lust of the flesh. Any attempts to uphold a shield will never be successful because one can never turn off the animal side of man. What is, just is. Beyond physical attraction, a man living in today’s era is influenced by media and their peers when talking about what a guy looks for in a gal. The qualities of a woman can not be judged or based on a simple scale, for each man's standard is different and specific to his experience and character.

What a dude wants in a girlfriend seems different from what he looks for in a wife. This contradiction and irony is what makes men just as complex as women. He wants excitement before he settles down. perhaps something fleeting like physical beauty. hmm...

Having a shy and timid personality or one of adventure depends on the dude’s personal experience and character. In the most general sense, I believe a dude of my background – social class, culture, demography, etc - would prefer a pure girl who is sophisticated in her interactions with members of both sexes. A gal who is easy going and not high maintenance… someone who enjoys to kick back and laugh… someone who desires a family… someone who adores the dude… someone who will sacrifice much of herself, in terms of time, emotion, and money, for the dude… yeah. Above all, i believe a guy looks for a girl who is intentional in her thoughts, her words, and her actions... someone who is true and real, not someone lacking in depth and ability to grow. Someone who can grow him both emotionally and intellectually.

Yeah, bottom line: i think a guy looks for a girl who ultimately will challenge him to be a better person, both spiritually and intellectually. He wants someone who will love him, laugh with/at him, challenge him, and grow with him. Also, a guy looks for someone who will accept his love in return. A good guy friend told me that once, and I think he's got it right!
